Going kayak fishing is a fun adventure. But what makes it more fun is doing it with people you love, or pups you love. Yes! Going kayak fishing with your dog is so much fun! A simple platform can be built using a piece of marine grade plywood. Just cut the piece of wood into the desired size and shape for your dog, and secure it on to the front end of your kayak using hinges and short screws. Using a shape that is not a square is usually more efficient, I find using one shaped like the superman emblem works best. If you cut the sharp end so that it’s square it’s perfect.
When you actually take your dog out for the first time it can be a little scary, especially if it’s a jumpy dog. Sometimes the unstable feeling of being on the water will make the dog nervous and they might jump in the water, or stand up and get shaky. That’s why it’s important to attach an i-bolt to the marine grade plywood to attach a leash to. That way if they do jump off they can’t get too far. Also make sure that they have a life jacket on. Just make sure that they aren’t scared of fish, otherwise when you pull one up they might jump! Also make sure that they aren’t too aggressive, then if you pull one up they might attack it!
Another way to make fishing more fun is having your own custom fishing rod. Look for the best quality and great discounts at Castaway Rods. Having a good quality rod and bringing your dog can make a fun trip even better!
